Get juicing with these 6 juice cleansing tips

Juice cleanses have been so popular over the years that the North American cold-pressed juice market is now worth 3-5 billion dollars[i]. If you’ve been contemplating doing a juice cleanse yourself for a while, here are some tips and tricks that will turn you into a juice queen and come out feeling healthier, energized, and glowing.

Invest in a juicer: There are many different types of juicers, but the two main types are centrifugal and masticating (aka cold-pressed). The centrifugal juicer is great if you’re pressed for time and just getting started with juicing – however it’s important to note that this machine uses heat, which can kill some nutrients in the juice. A masticating juicer is more expensive, but it doesn’t use heat and is ideal for making green juices. It can keep juice fresh for up to 48 hours, allowing you to make big batches of it in advance.

A short cleanse is key: 3 days is the suggested length for a juice cleanse, although some programs can last up to 5 days. It’s recommended to speak with your doctor before starting one.

A healthy diet pumps up the results: A juice cleanse is not an instant quick-fix solution. Eating well a month before as well as after the cleanse will give you maximum benefits.

Switch up the juices: All fruits and vegetables are not created equal, so don’t drink the same juices every day. Changing up your juices gives your body the most nutrients. It’s also important to avoid an all fruit juice cleanse, as it’s very high in sugar.

Water is your friend: Juices themselves are hydrating, but it’s important to drink water along with the juices to further flush out the system.
