Inspire your kids to eat healthy with these 4 creative Instagram accounts

Sometimes it’s okay to play with your food.

Getting your kids to eat healthy can be a real challenge – especially if they’re in the “picky eater stage” (it’s a real thing, according to this study). However, if you make the food fun, like using shaved Brussels sprouts for “hair” on a savory pancake and olives for the eyes, you’ll be surprised to see how fast your kids will gobble up their veggies. While we can’t guarantee that you’ll always be able to fool them with savvy food art (they‘re getting more intelligent by the day!), we can promise that your hard work will put a smile on their face.

THE BASICS OF FOOD ART

Food art can be as simple or intricate as you like. On the days you have more time (like the weekends) try out a complicated design. For the other mornings or evenings when you need to make something fast, just add little touches to your kids’ lunches, like using cookie cutters to create fun fruit shapes.

Don’t hesitate to include your kids in the food art process. It will give them a great excuse to (finally!) be able to play with their food, and they’ll feel proud of what they helped you make.
