Say goodbye to pale legs!
Vacation is a time for taking care of yourself, rediscovering your body...and your pale skin! Especially your legs. That milky, almost white-as-snow skin—that hides under our clothes all winter long—suddenly appears. As spring rolled around, while doing yoga and wearing skirts and sandals, I knew I had to do something ASAP!
THE SECRET WEAPON
I have always used self-tanning to give my skin a safe glow. Products have improved a lot over the years. Today’s products are much easier to apply. For my body, Autobronzant Tonique has long been a staple of mine. This bi-phase texture goes on like a charm and doesn’t leave any streaks. For my face, I use Aqua-Gelée Autobronzante . Its serum texture makes it super easy to apply.
For the best results with self-tanning, the skin must be properly prepared. To help transform my skin from pale to radiant, I follow these three rituals: cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize. Three rituals and three products that make up my beauty trio.
LAIT DE DOUCHE
To cleanse my skin and remove sunscreen, chlorine and bug spray, I use Lait de Douche from Biotherm’s Lait Corporel collection. Its rich lather gives off a delicious citrus scent and gently cleanses my skin.
LAIT DE GOMMAGE
Not only is dry skin not pretty, but it prevents the self-tan from properly penetrating the skin, which can create an uneven look. For beautifully tan legs, you must exfoliate at least once a week. This cleanses the skin deeply and eliminates dead cells. Personally, I prefer gentle exfoliation, so I use Lait de Gommage , an ultra-creamy scrub with a soft texture that doesn’t make me feel like I’m sanding off my skin.
Let’s face it: alligator skin isn’t sexy. Soft skin is! After spending a day in the sun and wind, moisturizing is a must! No matter what! I like to think that this is my little secret, but it must be others’ too because Lait Corporel has been around for more than 40 years. It is definitely the number one moisturizer because when I travel across Quebec to shoot Mitsou et Léa, I see it in several of the bathrooms of the women I interview! Why? Because it moisturizes deeply, absorbs quickly and gives off a delicious citrus scent! I tried it for the first time when I was 15 in my first boyfriend’s mother’s bathroom. She exuded femininity and only used the finest products. I left her son two years later, but I kept her beauty routine!
REFRESHINGLY COOLING FOR SUMMER
Summer is a time for light clothes and fragrances. L’Eau is a perfumed spray inspired by the same notes as Lait Corporel that is appreciated for its many benefits and its delicious smell. This prolongs the feeling of happiness beyond moisturizing. Spray it as much as you want—all summer long—because the alcohol it contains is not photo-sensitive, meaning that it won’t leave tiny spots on the skin when we’re having fun in the sun.
Now you’re ready for summer! All you have to do now is get out your shorts, skirts and little dresses, and slip into your favourite sandals.
